PERTH, WA, 9 September 2020 – Searcher hosted its Explorers Lounge Evening in Perth, last Wednesday 2 September, in support of the 2020 Australian Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release.
With COVID-19 restrictions eased in Western Australia, 90 attendees arrived at The Flour Factory and for most, it was their first opportunity to physically attend an industry event since March 2020.
The evening’s presentations demonstrated two recent technology developments by Searcher; sAIsmic and GeoClerk, and how they can be utilised by explorers to more efficiently research, scout and acquire data in support of the 2020 Australian Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release screening.
sAIsmic
Joshua Thorp, VP Data & Analytics for Searcher, started the presentations off with, “2020 Acreage Release Data Scouting & Download via sAIsmic”. This comprised of a detailed demonstration of Searcher’s sAIsmic platform, revealing the ease of web portal access, to view and explore seismic, even from a bar. No high-end hardware, no VPN, no interpretation packages, and no credit cards – all one needs is internet access and a laptop.
For the 2020 Australian Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release, sAIsmic provides subscribers access to over 700,000 km of 2D and over 300,000 sq.km of 3D rectified open-file data, ready for explorers to start screening with high quality data, applicability to purpose and free of expensive software. Once a user is intrigued by a particular survey or part of a survey, the user can easily download SEGY’s through its browser window to their desktop, a secure FTP server or even directly into cloud storage locations.
GeoClerk
Following the sAIsmic demonstration, Tim Hall-Johnson, GeoClerk Lead for Searcher, presented “Efficient screening of the 2020 acreage release permits with GeoClerk”, illustrating how users can quickly and easily access a database of industry relevant documents through GeoClerk’s unique search and classification process. The presentation highlighted how GeoClerk can fast-track screening initiatives related to the 2020 acreage release at regional, permit or well levels through classified image categories such as seismic, prospect, and permits. Again, the ease of access was highlighted with internet access being the only requirement one needs to start searching through a growing database of modern and historic geo-imagery.
For the 2020 Australian Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release, GeoClerk has integrated the NOPIMS, WAPIMS, SARIG, DIGS & GSQ Historical Permit databases. Users have the ability to search through over 60 years of Operating Reports, Surveys, Interpretation Reports and more for all West Australian, NSW, QLD, SA and National Offshore Permits, bringing to light decades of historic and uncategorised documents for the first time in a searchable format.
The annual Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release 2020 was announced on August 26, 2020 with 42 release areas available for offshore oil and gas exploration. Whether you are screening the area for the first time, revisiting the region or a seasoned Australian explorer, Searcher has you covered. From Searcher’s live platforms to seismic data, begin your exploration for the bid round.
