Searcher Seismic is pleased to announce the Olympus 3D Reprocessing Project in the Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia, has commenced processing at DownUnder GeoSolutions’ Perth facility.

The project, in cooperation with Spectrum, comprises the reprocessing of 20 existing 3D datasets through a broadband Pre-Stack Time and Depth Migration (PSTM and PSDM) workflow.

The project extends northward from the Rankin Platform and covers an extensive fairway of high quality Jurassic reservoirs in the Angel, Calypso and Legendre Formations, with multiple potential sources including the Dingo Claystone and the Muderong Shale.

The processing effort will specifically focus on resolving fault seals and imaging complex migration pathways which may prove the key to unlocking further discoveries in the area.

Rachel Masters, Global Sales Manager for Searcher, said leveraging the most recent developments in broadband processing algorithms along with the massive computer power that is now available, will allow Searcher to create a high quality, cost effective dataset for near field exploration.

“Given the low oil price environment and constrained budgets, our supporting clients have recognised the benefits of such a project and we are looking forward to seeing both the results of the processing and future drilling campaigns,” Ms Masters added.

The Olympus 3D project is a natural addition to Searcher’s extensive 3D coverage in Australia which now totals over 70,000 sqkm.

Full final PSTM products are expected to be available Q2 2017 and PSDM in Q3 2017.
