North West Shelf Ultracube™ 3D Reprocessing
Enhancing Exploration in the North West Shelf
The Ultracube™ concept is a series of reprocessed 3D seismic surveys, blended to create unified, contiguous volumes that facilitates informed and efficient exploration. The Ultracube approach mitigates edge effects and leverages the collective fold distribution from each survey, resulting in enhanced imaging and data reliability.
Encompassing a combined 50,000 km² from over 40 volumes across the North West Shelf, the Bonaparte, Browse, Canning and Carnarvon Ultracubes utilise PSTM processing and meticulous velocity analysis to create integrated volumes with improved reflector definition, multiple attenuation and seamless transitions, providing a robust foundation for basin-wide exploration. The reprocessed volumes allow for detailed and reliable geological and geophysical analysis, including depth processing, AVO studies and inversion.
The Drop Bear and Monodon Ultracubes go a step further, utilising a PSDM algorithm with anisotropic tomography to address imaging complexities as a result of the position over the present-day shelf break and complex Tertiary stratigraphy that create significant ray path distortions. The resultant volumes exemplifies how advanced technologies and comprehensive datasets can transform exploration efforts, providing unparalleled insights into the North West Shelf.
