Lahara 2D Non-Exclusive Seismic Survey

Gulf of Papua, Papua New Guinea

Searcher Seismic in conjunction with project partner Fugro have acquired over 12,000 km of 2D long-offset seismic data over the south eastern Papuan Basin. The survey was acquired in water depths ranging from 30 m to 2,500 m and offers the most extensive regional 2D seismic grid over the Gulf of Papua.

The Lahara 2D Non-Exclusive Seismic Survey has identified a thick sedimentary section below what was previously interpreted as basement as well as identifying a number of deep graben which are believed to contain extensive Mesozoic and Palaeozoic sediments. The Lahara 2D Seismic Survey has led to a re-interpretation of the geology in the Gulf of Papua and has since upgraded the prospectivity of the Gulf of Papua region.
