Foxhound 3D Non-Exclusive Seismic Survey
Carnarvon Basin, Australia
Searcher Seismic in conjunction with project partner CGGVeritas have recently acquired and processed the 3,454 km2 Foxhound 3D Seismic Survey. The survey, which completed acquisition in August 2009, lies directly north and north west of multiple hydrocarbon fields in the Carnarvon Basin. The Foxhound 3D Seismic Survey consists of two separate 3D cubes (east and west) connected together by a single 2D line.
The Foxhound survey is split into two portions, the Western cube which lies North-East and on trend to the Chandon, Martell and Io/Jansz fields, and the Eastern portion which lies North-North-East and on trend to the Pluto and Wheatstone fields. Covering permits that are due for relinquishment shortly, the Foxhound 3D Survey can provide companies with an unequalled review of the prospective, soon to be relinquished acreage.
The area surrounding the eastern Foxhound 3D cube has been notorious for providing low quality seismic due to the extreme canyoning and large drop offs present on the seafloor. However utilising a north – south shooting direction has shown a vast improvement in the Foxhound 3D seismic quality compared to that of its immediate counterparts. The survey which is mainly contained within exploration permit WA-269-P is sparsely explored, with no exploration wells having been drilled or significant 3D surveys having been acquired within the survey limits. The Foxhound 3D Seismic Survey covers 5 other active exploration permits and 1 area of currently vacant acreage. The survey is available for immediate delivery.
