Canning 3D PSTM Reprocessing

Searcher Seismic and project partner Geotrace have completed a full PSTM reprocessing of 4,466km2 of 3D seismic data from field tapes. The Canning 3D PSTM project resides in one of the most prospective of the 2011 Australian Federal Acreage Release Blocks in the Northern Carnarvon Basin. Considerable data improvements have been achieved through the reprocessing of this survey with a full PSTM workflow. The project has been well received and prefunded by industry, and is complimentary to the regional Dachshund 2D Super-Tie project.

The Canning 3D was specifically targeted as being an excellent candidate for reprocessing with a modern 3D workflow as an additional 1 second of data is available from field tape that is not present in the open-file available cube. The uplift achieved throughout the cube is immediately apparent with clear fault delineation essential for interpreting the structurally and stratigraphically complex geology for the 2011 W11-9 acreage release.

The reprocessed Canning 3D dataset also has a full set of angle products available as well as an interpretation conducted by Isis Petroleum on the prospectivity of the area, whereas the open file available cube does not contain any angle stacks or AVO products. Key horizons have been interpreted to allow flattening and amplitude extractions to better understand the channel systems present in the offshore Carnarvon and Canning dataset.
