Acheron 2D Non-Exclusive Seismic Survey

Searcher Seismic in conjunction with project partner Seabird Exploration acquired a regularly spaced 25 x 25 km grid over the relatively unexplored outboard southern Exmouth Sub-Basin. The Survey, which lies immediately to the west of the Bernier Ridge, ties into two existing wells, Herdsman-1 and Pendock-1. The Acheron 2D Seismic Survey serves to further enhance the industries knowledge of this frontier area of the North West Shelf. 

The recently acquired data reveals three distinct play types in the area covered by the survey. An outboard Jurassic to Triassic section with "Carnarvon-style" geology, a central Bernier Terrace with a thick Cretaceous to Ordovician and ?older sedimentary section and an inboard Bernier Ridge section, as seen in oil bearing Pendock-1, with Creatceous sediments overlying Palaeozoic sediments.

The Acheron 2D Non-Exclusive Seismic Survey was acquired by Seabird Exploration’s M/V Aquila Explorer which utilised a long-offset streamer during acquisition. The 2,678 km survey has been processed in Perth, Australia and Searcher Seismic as project operators have instituted stringent QC procedures to ensure that all processing techniques and results achieved comply with the highest industry standards and expectations.

In addition to the long offset new acquistion Acheron survey, Searcher, along with project partners Geotrace, have reprocessed over 2,000km of 2D data (the Gascoyne Platform 2D PSTM Reprocessing) around the Pendock and Herdsman wells that appreciably improve seismic imaging and provide key ties into the area covered by the Acheron survey.
