Searcher Seismic Pty Ltd (Searcher) has announced a 7,281 sq.km Non-Exclusive 3D Seismic Survey on the North West Shelf (Warramunga 3D Survey). The project area is located adjacent to two of the most prolific oil & gas provinces offshore Australia. The survey area is sparsely explored with very little 3D seismic coverage and only 5 exploration wells. It is expected the area will be subject to increased drilling activity and exploration focus in the years to come with the potential for several new oil and gas discoveries.
The proposed Warramunga 3D Survey covers 7 active exploration permits and 3 permits subject to bidding (closing date 9th October 2008). The survey is proposed to cover portions of the following permit areas: WA-255P, WA-290P, WA-322P, WA-335P, WA-351P, WA-354P and WA-392P. In addition the gazettal blocks W08-18, W08-19 and W08-20 are proposed to be fully covered by the survey. Any companies interested in bidding the licensing of this data in their work program for the blocks are asked to contact Searcher for further details.
A modern high-capacity 3D seismic vessel has been secured for the survey and will upon sufficient underwriting and approvals commence operations in December 2008. The seismic acquisition phase is expected to last approx 260 days. |
